Austrian citizenship through exceptional merit has no fixed statutory minimums. Under Section 10(6) of the Austrian Citizenship Act, approvals are granted on a highly discretionary, case-by-case basis. Current market guidance recommends:

  • Direct Business Investment: Typically, EUR 10 million+ actively invested in a local enterprise that creates substantial employment, expands foreign trade, or introduces innovative technology. (Passive real estate or bond investments do not qualify).
  • Public-Interest Contribution: Typically EUR 4 million+ as a non-refundable endowment to a major national project (e.g., advanced scientific research, education, or cultural initiatives).

*Advisory Note: Because these thresholds are discretionary and require multi-level political approval, all prospective applications must be comprehensively reviewed by legal counsel before proceeding.
